Raveneye, Thank you for that link. Read it once and know I’ll return to it. Some good suggestions in there. Most welcome, Pel!

Progress Diary
Ugh, why? I hate it when I get in a glorious full day of writing, spend hours at the keyboard and type out a wonderful scene, and feel that I've easily reached my quota, only to discover that the word count is 300 short. How does this happen? All day, constant typing, 700 words. I didn't even make any research pitstops! WTF.
I mean, so many details, so many characters, so much going on, 700 is all it is? Hooooow?
Still, a crucial scene in Jeremy's character development. So I'm not complaining about the content, only the loss of time. Progress is progress. But still! So weird.

Pre-Progress Diary
I have a very short writing day today and none tomorrow, so I'm spending a few minutes brainstorming micro fiction entries.

Progress DiaryWeeeeelllll... I see that it's been over a week since I updated this thread. Blah. Nor have I participated in anyone else's thread during that time. Double blah. But I didn't drop the ball! I spent those days feverishly scribbling out ideas for the Fractured Lit micro contest and condensing all those notes into three pieces, each less than 300 words, which I submitted today. I KNOW I didn't meet my goal for NaNo, BUT it was wonderful having the excuse to push everything else aside (when possible) to focus on nothing but my WIP. To the extent that my poor Christmas tree has been standing in the living room naked for the past four days. It has lights and nothing else. I guess I'll finally put ornaments on it today and spare it from further neglect and humiliation. Altogether, out of a goal of 20,000 words, I ended up with ... *calculating* ... 13,543. Huh. That is more than I thought. So I'm happy! 13,543/20,000

I don't know how some people can write thousands of words in one day. Maybe all those words suck? That's a small comfort. Maybe all your words were quality and important? As you said, crucial to the story. That takes more time, I feel. But I'm there with you, I feel like I've been working hard and yet I've only done 10k? Sigh. How can some people pump out three books a year? I. Do. Not. Know.
