The only good part was the drive because we stopped at Arches National Park, the Grand Canyon, Roswell, and Carlsbad Caverns. Carlsbad is SO COOL. I highly recommend it. And it's accessible! My mother in law can't walk very much or for long periods. There's an elevator down to The Big Room and part of the path around the room is wheelchair accessible. And there's a cafe down there, too. The Big Room was the best part anyways so you're not missing out by skipping the hike into the caverns. Actually, the hike was kind of not worth the work. I wish I did the elevator and saved myself A LOT of exhaustion and stressed. Flynn was strapped to my chest the WHOLE TIME. My legs and butt hurt soooo bad for like three days afterward. Cleo was in a backpack on Mike the whole time. We were DEAD afterwards. And Nova and I went back at night to see the bats leave the cave. So cool. Dream come true. The new house is fantastic. Much bigger. The Texas heat isn't as bad as folks kept telling me it was, especially since I can just stay inside during the hottest part of the day. Unpacking is endless but we aren't rushed like we were while packing so that's nice. We got the kitchen in order first so I can cook and feel a bit at home. Right now we are building our new couches. They're a beautiful dark green velvety texture and I'm in love! They come in pieces because the couches are modular and can be detached and moved around and changed. Anyways...my world is consumed with boxes and trash and more boxes and living out of suitcases until our closet can get in order, and mess...but WE DID IT. Yay! Congrats on completing the move. Such an icky part of adulting, that. But now the fun part can begin. Making the place your own and exploring new stuff. If we ever get to move where we want to, I'm seriously considering selling nearly everything (except my books and memorabilia) with the house and just getting new when we settle in. Cuz, ugh. All the boxes and trash is just ... yeah, it's like Christmas, but still. It's just ... overwhelming. Ah, I've always wanted to go to Carlsbad. Interesting that there's all that stuff down there and that there's actual hiking involved. Didn't expect that. But, oh, the bats. That would be amazing to see (and hear and smell). When we watched the bats fly out from under the bat bridge in downtown Austin, it was the smell I didn't expect. A sweet musky earthy aroma. Brought patchouli to mind. Strange but not unpleasant.

Okay, reading all of your random cool things is really inspiring.
What I've been up to (not much changed since last time I shared really):
This is something I've been working on. Practicing drawing. I prefer black and white and have no intention of adding color at this time. I'm just having fun with drawing these characters. I'm also including these images in my Legend of Korra fanfiction that I've been uploading here: Shared Moments
Honestly, fanfiction is really good writing practice, and great for when I'm not feeling well so don't have the energy to really focus on my original work.

Currently trying to find all the places my cat is putting all my socks (she drags them around, parades them around in the middle of the night. Sometimes she will do this earlier in the day then meow loudly that she has made this kill. Recently she jumped on the table near my work area and droped one off.

Hmm, I guess it does look like a sock has the size and swing of a dead rat. And maybe that just want to make sure their hoomans' feet are warm...? This though??? LMAO, that's just pure mischief.

I suddenly remembered the existence of the drawing tool Webchemy, which is based on a program called Al.chemy. There are some impressive videos of artists using it to come up with compositions or character designs. If you decide to mess around with it, I recommend scribbling a little with opacity set to 33%, and "splat" or "pull shapes" or both turned on. Alternate between scribbling with black and white. Then let your apophenia see faces or figures or objects. Start intentionally giving some better definition to whatever you saw, perhaps turning off the splat or pull shapes, perhaps using some 100% opaque shapes of your background color to define the edges.
Faces are easily to accidentally find. Thus I doodled some people you may not want to encounter at night. This one became a beast. I tried the x-axis symmetry. It looked like what I drew was being reflected in water, so I went with that and made a landscape. I then turned off the symmetry to darken the water and add some waves. I'd love to see what others make if you try it. Interestingly, I can't draw nearly this well so quickly when drawing more conventionally. I guess rapidly producing shapes as I drag the cursor makes it easier to see what it would look like with a shape placed here or there and easier to intuit where a shape needs to go.

Wow, these look amazing. And inspiring. Never hear of Al.chemy or Webchemy, but now I'm curious. Would be fun to populate a world with creatures that come out of this.
