How's everyone doing? I have two ideas and keep switching between thinking about the two. The first one incorporates a tiny existing idea I had. It would be easier and more fun, but it seems like the story would be more setup than action. There's a fairly unnecessary detail that rather complicates the story, that if removed, the story would be pretty basic and boring. And again, it risks sending a message I didn't intend. The second line of ideas occurred to me on the train the other day when I was just reflecting on stuff. It's probably the higher quality of the two, but there are a lot of possibilities for how to go about it, in a range of genres. I'd rather do this if I can manage to figure something out. I've got nothing. Sadly. My brain is still not working properly to create something new. It apparently needs more time to heal. I'd say give yourself permission to try out idea #2 and it doesn't feel right, switch back to idea #1. |

I've started on an idea, but I think the trick will be fitting it within the 3k word limit while keeping it coherent.

If all goes well, I should finish my entry's 1st draft today. When I wrapped up writing on Friday, I couldn't figure out why I was in a depressed, snarky mood, until I realized I was still in my characters' heads, and they are depressing. Eesh, don't want to carry that around, for sure. |

Disappointing but understandable to see people dropping out. May the writing-mind and circumstances be back soon for you guys.
As it turns out, I came up with an idea #3 and that's definitely the one I'm going with. I don't have a solid grasp of what the main plot actually looks like, which sounds like a pretty bad thing, but I'll get there. It's better than the other two ideas.
EDIT: I added to the contest announcement that line saying no generative AI content that Raveneye uses. Forgot that that's a thing now.

I'm about a fifth of the way into mine. I figured out the plot in my head just before bed last night. I actually have pretty high hopes for this one; just need to get some quality time to write it all down and write it well.

Currently at 1,300 words and still have a good bit more to write. I didn't realize it was UTC, so that's only 3pm for me tomorrow.  Fingers crossed I can pull this off. |
