Thought I was going to finish today, but it turns out LibreOffice over-counts words. I was trying to write economically to fit, still ended up at 3038, and tried to cut words during my revision. Then I put my story into the linked word count tool and found I actually had plenty of words left. So my story submission is delayed as I figure out how to use them.

UGH, I love my fiction story, but life reared its head and I just don't think I have the time to pull it off the way it deserves. Swiveled from poetry to non-fic, and that entry is going much better though!

Not sure I'm going to make this one. I had two different ideas and sat down to write several times, but had a hard time developing either one last week. We're also entertaining guests, who are staying with us until Saturday. I'll see if I can still squeeze something in but it will be quite tight if I can!

My two entries are only halfway written. So I don't think I'm gonna make it, which GREATLY saddens me. With more time, perhaps, but since the deadline is tomorrow I don't think I can manage to finish.

My fiction entry was in a few days ago, record time for me. Nonfiction I'm most likely giving up on, but there's still a chance. If I do it one way, the ending is a little flat. If I do it the other way, it sounds arrogant.
If I do quit nonfiction, I might try to whip up a poem tomorrow. No ideas yet, but there's a certain type of poem I'm interested in trying for this prompt.
Edit: Well, writing my post made me realize there is a way to do my nonfiction that's neither flat nor arrogant. I guess I will shoot to finish that after all.
Edit 2: THAT said, I just remembered a metaphor for something I passingly thought of the other day. I might be able to add some cages to it to form a poem. Hmm.

UGH! Sadly, I don't think I'm gonna make it either. I've had one job on my ass all week and the second one can't seem to figure out if they have work for me to do or not, and it's resulted in my brain just sort of floating in a haphazard free-fall, waiting to see where it needs to allocate resources. And thus, never accomplishing anything useful. Probably gonna end up finishing these later and just posting them after the contest has already passed. Best of luck to everyone else! You got this!  |
