I know for a fact that we have more than a few artistically minded folk among our ranks, so here is a thread to share some of your pieces!
I'll kick off with some of my least ashamed stuff:
Princess General Leia Organa
Pocahontas
Random Flower

I'm not sure if the forum is being weird today, but your images aren't showing for me, Caulder.
But here are some previews:
Digital painting:
Fractal art (yes, this is literally painting with math and algorithms):
Handdrawn inked and watercolor painted maps:

My artistic outlet is pottery. I have sooooo much trouble throwing a pot on a wheel (I think I'm too brute-force heavy-handed, go figure), so I prefer to "handbuild." I make cups, mugs, bowls, platters, and woman-shaped vases without the wheel, which means that each pieces takes a lot longer to produce. (Matching beer steins with large handles for big hands. I made these for my husband and his buddies.) (Crochet bowl. These are tough to make and will be expensive. This is the prototype, so I gave it to my sister.) (Adorable three-legged mugs. These sell like crazy. I keep the rejects and drink my coffee from them everyday. Even ugly mugs get to serve a purpose.) I produce these in a few signature color combos. They make great one-of-a-kind gifts. Hit me up if you want one. I'm currently out of stock, but requests/commissions help light a fire under me and keep me producing. It takes about two months to produce enough to fill my kiln. And I will only ship domestic US.

Lookie what I found lurking in my pics folder. Eesh. I painted these umpteen years ago, both as gifts for my dad. (acrylic on a tortoise shell. Before anyone complains, I did not paint my Native American model "white." He is wearing ceremonial face paint.) (Grizzly Bear in chalk pastel. Hehe, his face is a little teddy-bearish, but oh well.)

Okay I just finished this one a few minutes ago, actually. My favorite scene from one of the most heartbreaking episodes of Violet Evergarden My first time trying it with taping a border too. Usually I paint to the edge of the canvas but I think I like this better.

I got a tablet for Christmas, and so I've been messing around with doing art in GIMP This is a little skyline thing I did inspired by the oil-slick night sky we had lasts night. And today I did this little nebula thingy

Okay, Caulder Melhaire , those trees look exactly like an oil painting with a stipple brush, how the heck did you do that? Surely those aren't made with GIMP's default brushes. In other words, original art I've tried to make with GIMP looks like a kindergartener's stick art. So I've stuck with book covers and LF badges. The nebula is with GIMP too??? Shit, I quit.

Believe it or not, it was LOL I think I used the Acrylic 1 and the 5 brushes to make the trees. Splatted them down with different opacities, and then a little selective blurring to shade in the "trunk" areas and hide the skyline along the base. The nebula was fun because the nebula itself I painted with brushes but then the stars were a series of layers with a desaturated Noise filter; some shaded with colors, some with the Sparkle filter added. And then gradually fading them where they pass behind the nebula layer by layer. It's a lot easier with a tablet. Before, I definitely got frustrated and gave up because I had to switch values out every five seconds. But with pressure dynamics it's soooo easy because you can change up opacity, thickness, etc with just a little more/less push.

I do not own a tablet, so I had no idea GIMP was capable of that function. Kinda want to swipe Soxx's tablet now.

This was my attempt at replicating one of those street-art-spray-paint-art videos where they make amazing art with only spray paint and newspaper and like a bowl or some shit that I somehow can't do with 300 dollars in art supplies and electronics. It ain't the worst, but his still looked better

So I've taken the step to finally start learning an art skill I've always wanted to try: watercolor. Got some books and paints and paper and a gazillion brushes, and after a few days of practicing, this is my first actual experimental painting: The colors ended up being way too bright for a gloomy rainy scene, but I'll learn to do glazes to change moods next. And making the red of the umbrella run is intentional. The book instructed me to do it, and it turned out cool and abstract b/c of it. Kinda symbolic of the wet that I didn't adequately capture. Lots of fun.

I finished this yesterday as a present for a friend who recently took in a one-legged starling, and likes bunnies. Quite proud of it. Click to enlarge, apparently.
