Reminder that submissions are due at the end of Saturday, GMT, when it's New Year's for GMT people.

As for me, my story's at 2961 words currently, and I'm definitely going to need more than 39 words to tell the story. I think it's doable if I cut stuff, but it'll probably feel very squished and badly paced. Oh well. I think I'll still enter the contest for fun and feedback, but I'm not expecting to get voted highly. If people seem to like the idea, I'll write it more fully someday.

So I 'finished' the story today. It's 3363 words and would've been longer if I didn't cut myself short in places. I guess tomorrow's project is to see what can be removed.

Ha! Good to know I'm not the only one thinking this about my story too. I look at every cliched turn of phrase, every piece of description and KNOW that someone is gonna mention it. I see every non-traditional use of grammar and can practically SEE the criticism.

Oh well! Gotta be brave. And as critters maybe be a little more forgiving.
