I'm probably overlooking this, but I have no idea how to personal message others. I went to the members list (there isn't a way to message someone from the 'messages' area), and selected a member and then message from the 'Actions' dropdown. But then it goes to a page that says, "Oops, there was an error!
You are not allowed to start a conversation on this forum."

okay, this is how I got it to work (though if this is the method you took - as I'm struggling a bit to visualize what you described- then tag in Raveneye in case this is a bug or some sort of larger issue):
That takes you to your inbox. Then I created a personal message there:
the next screen let me choose a username. I sent you test PM to see if it worked:
If you can't hit the "message" button on a person's profile and send a message that way, that might be a bug for Raveneye to examine? But in the meantime, check if my method worked as a workaround.

Yes! That should let you send a PM no problem.
But also: you probably won't be able to send a message until you have at least 3 posts on the forum. 'Cause we have the restricted PMs set up to a minimum of 3 (probably to deter spammers from flooding people's inboxes.)

I'm still trying to figure things out so I'm in lurking mode for now. There isn't even an option to create a message for me. Didn't know there was a restriction. I'd been having problems logging in so I didn't know what's what. Thanks everyone. |
