To Have a Lovely Time

Its taste was a true wonder, that little pink sea creature Kitty’s owner cooked and tossed in the food bowl.

What the cat didn’t know was Polly had little means. Shrimp was a luxury for her. She’d gone way out to buy them for her friend’s dinner party and strained to spare one for the cat.

What Kitty also didn’t know, yet, was that if you could graph her happiness and pleasure over her entire life, this meal would be the peak. She chewed the delicious shrimp naively. Then she curled on the sofa and slept, the moment now behind.

What Goes Around

Johnny had always been a small, scrawny fellow compared with his peers. "Shrimp," students would call him derisively, perpetual sneers plastered to their faces, right before another inevitable beating - for no other reason than they could.

Their cruelty made Johnny the man he was today. "The Shrimp" held an entirely new meaning to those unfortunate enough to have dealings with him.

"I'll pay it back, I swear," stammered Pete, whose gambling addiction found him in a deeper hole than when he'd asked for help.

"It's a large sum, Pete," said The Shrimp. "A kidney or two ought to do nicely."
