Boo! Entries are posted.
All entrants are required to vote by doing both of these:
1) Critique. Post a critique on all the entries except your own; you may "critique" your own as well to preserve anonymity. This is just a way to give reactions and feedback. You don't need to assign any scores.
2) Vote in the online poll. I have sent unique poll links to each participant.
Non-entrants may critique as well, and it's helpful when you do! Only entrants may vote in this contest.

Woohoo! Got my crits and voting done. Short and sweet, but really fun. I loved this prompt. After reading these entries, I see how limited my vision was in terms of all the ways it could be interpreted. It makes me want to write a werewolf story next.

All done, too! Every contest I'm AMAZED at how different all the entries are from one another. I'm always convinced someone else will write an identical story to mine. For some reason I think my ideas are unoriginal and so obvious. Does everyone feel that way about their stories? Because all of the entries are so interesting to me and nothing I would've thought to write!

Ah, I still need to finish my voting.

It's so fun when the entries get posted and you can just look through and see the range of things people came up with.

What sucked was that one time an editor told me he was "sick of seeing stories like this for the past 40 years." Not in those words, but that was the gist. I was like, "Dude, how old are you, and what audience do you think you're attracting?" Anyway, next place I sent the story to bought it, so I was vindicated. I guess this is all just a reminder to write what inspires us, regardless of all the inner and outer voices telling us it's not a good idea.

I love seeing things I can relate to in the books I'm reading or shows I'm watching. If we stopped publishing stories that felt familiar then we'd have nothing in any genre to publish. That's why tropes exist! But yea. Just wanted to say YES. Write it. Write it ALL.

Yeah, it was a good thing that by then I wasn't taking rejections personally anymore, else I might never have submitted the piece again. I just said, "Grrrrrr," rolled my eyes, and gave him the mental equivalent of the finger, and subbed that thing again. Always have a backup and get back on that horse when it bucks you off.
