When you registered and began posting, you may have noticed the word Smoke above your avatar, accompanied by a single yellow star.
This indicates your post count rank. As you post, a little number will climb beneath your avatar. Your post count will accumulate every time you post at LF, except in Writing Games. We hope you contribute so much meaningful content that your rank climbs and climbs. Here are the ranks you can earn:
Wish (0-2 posts, 0 stars, PM creation and thread creation in the Feedback forums disabled) Smoke (3-49 posts, 1 yellow star, all posting permissions unlocked) Spark (50 posts, 2 yellow stars) Ember (100 posts, 3 yellow stars) Blaze (500 posts, 4 orange stars) Inferno (1,000 posts, 5 orange stars) Nova (5,000 posts, 6 orange stars) Legend (10,000+ posts, 6 silver stars)

I've updated the post-count ranks, adding "Wish" as our new member rank. Three posts are required to rise to Smoke and thereby unlock permissions to start new PMs and start new threads in the Critique Classroom forums. This is to encourage new members to introduce themselves, offer a critique, or post anywhere at all before posting their own work for critique.
In short: as a Wish, you may post replies anywhere on the forum, and new threads may be started in all forums except the feedback forums, until you achieve the Smoke rank.
Reminder: we are not a critique service. If you want your work critiqued, please critique someone else's work and let us know who you are. We understand that you're taking a chance by signing on here; know that we're taking a chance by sacrificing our writing time to critique the work of a stranger. We'd rather not waste our time critting the writing of a person who has no intention of giving back to the community. (In other words, we don't like feeling used. Do you?) We are currently too small and family-like to survive such tactics. Please give back.
