Round and around on the Merry-Go-Round

Failure is a never ending carnival carousel, no pretty horses or unicorns on this ride.
Ettins, devils, and ghouls await your pleasure. Scylla and Charybdis hand out free tickets and wait for you to jump off.
Am I such a coward that torture is preferable to death? Is this my kismet? The boxes on the card to check.
Writer, husband, father, protector, and provider.
Such a simple thing, a check.
I’m the one who controls my fate, not any carnival barker. A tear rolls down my cheek, nice to know I still have some to shed, reminders of my humanity.
