GIFT HORSE(S)
The histrionics had been surprising and totally unexpected. They left her nettled. Piqued. Or, to put it quite plainly, in something of a huff. She hadn't even been given the opportunity to deliver her well-rehearsed "midnight" speech and that was vexing to say the least.
Who would have thought the little scullery maid would turn to such mush (rather like the pulp scooped out of the pumpkin coach) before taking off in an absolute panic at the sight of six tiny white mice?
The fairy godmother slipped her wand back into its holster.
There was just no helping some people!

Sour Grapes
He watched as she Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Booed her way around the courtyard, making quite the entrance, as usual. He couldn’t ignore her flair, though. A quick learner she certainly was.
He had once held the wand. And he used it often, personally profiting from time to time. Leave it to her to take that away, the little do-gooder.
He did understand she had little choice. A victim of circumstances, really, despite the fiasco with the rats. It was The Council who was to blame. The Council who took his wand away.
The Council, indeed.
Fairy Godfathers got no respect.

Glittery Pain
Glittery smoke filled the surroundings from my aim hitting an unexpected tree stump. The silence as it dispersed was killing me.
“Magic,” my teacher said through the haze. “It’s what the pile of dust piling up is.” The curly wooden wand fell from his loosened grip as he clutched his stomach tightly and moaned.
“How bad was I?” I asked, knowing this was obvious.
He pulled up his shirt revealing dark patch on the right side of his abdomen, oozing the same glittery dust making it pile up. “I’d be pretty impressed if the tree wasn’t in so much pain.”
