WHAT IS THE MARVELOUS NEW THING?
It’s a brief push to encourage critiquing and showcase what LegendFire is all about. Post a story, critique a bit, get entered into a raffle drawing. The goal is to keep it casual, low-stress, energetic, informative, and fun.
GENERAL RULES
To participate, you must POST ONE STORY or EXCERPT (up to 3500 words) in the FICTION FORUM (the main Fiction forum, not the subforums) and CRITIQUE any TWO stories by other participants. (I will check word counts to ensure pieces remain under 3500)
All LF’s rules surrounding critiquing still apply. Keep it constructive and respectful.
SCHEDULE
Friday March 19 - Tuesday March 30
Post stories any time between Friday March 19 and Thursday March 25, 11:59 pm. Begin critiquing immediately or whenever is most convenient, through Sunday April 4, 11:59 pm.
 Please have your story posted by the end of March 25, to ensure others have time to critique it.
WHAT MAY YOU POST?
Any WIP you have been working on or that has been languishing in your desk drawer (up to 3500 words). This includes:
 stories you may have written for LegendFire’s past contests
opening novel chapters
up to three flash fiction pieces (each 1000 words max, posted in the same post).
Be cautious about posting rough drafts. Polish before you post.
TEMPLATE
REQUIRED. To help us differentiate your story from non-participating stories, and so we know to include you in the raffle drawing, the title of your post needs to follow this pattern:
“FICTION DRIVE: Your-Title-Here”
RAFFLE PRIZE
On Wednesday March 31, we will enter all participants’ names into a hat. You must complete two critiques to be entered. The winner will receive an ebook copy of The Emotion Thesaurus, contributed by ScienceGirl.
HONOR POINTS
All participants will earn 100 Hard Points upon completing two critiques.
REGISTRATION
No need to register. Just post your entry in the Fiction Forum using the required title any time before March 31. |

Just wanted to be clear, the two crits have to be of other stories posted under the "Fiction Drive" title. Crits of other things are most appreciated, but they won't count toward the two required to enter for the drawing.

Yeah as long as they're open, I fully intend to read through all of them. I should have three done by the closing date, and then I'll hit the last two sometime during the rest of this week.

Alright! The day of the raffle drawing has arrived!
A huge  to each of you who took part in our first Fiction Drive! And to ScienceGirl for suggesting the activity and for putting up our prize.

The names of each participant went into the hat 4 times. Yes, I literally used my husband's steampunk top hat.

OMG you literally put the names on paper and into a hat! Love it. Congrats Bird! Personally I thought this was a ton of fun. It felt less like a challenge to me and more like a roundtable of fellows helping each other edit lol. 10/10 would participate again. |
