Choices, Choices

It’s Margaret’s favorite month again. For the next two weeks, the school will be quiet. No children running through the halls, no adults stinking up the lounge with their cigarette breath. While everyone is busy partying, she can enjoy the reverb of Rossini’s operas in the cavernous gym and walk the flowerbeds with a cup of tea. Without the horde of teenagers to scare them away, the birds will even stop by for a song.

For two weeks, she can go about her business without resenting her choice of residence. She really should have opted to haunt the B&B instead.

Winter Melts

The rain poured heavily, which melted the winter snow. The green grass looked so refreshing after the bright white making everything glare. I grabbed my coat and stepped outside and began to roam the town again. I smiled at the flowers drinking up the rain, they seemed to sparkle for some reason.

“Wow, I was thinking you’d appear and now, here you are. It’s like I’m psychic or something.”

I smiled at my friend. He always said stuff like this after spending time by myself.

“Sorry, been busy and I’ve come out to see spring finally breaking through the snow.”
