Y'all I got nothing. Everything I've started to write feels wrong. I don't think I'm gonna get anything done tbh. I have a trip planned next weekend so if I'm gonna write something it's gotta be before Thursday. So. I'm guessing that won't happen and I'm really torn up about it. Legends contest is my favorite but I have zero ideas or time to make anything decent. I'll keep trying but I have low hopes right now.

Oh! we got till the 16th to submit. I still have time. I will probably do poetry and may write an essay then. Everything I think of for a short story doesn't quite fit the theme or I can't think of a way to shove it into the word count and have it make sense. I'm also struggling with bad brain fog, so that isn't helping me be concise. The essay be easier for me to write as it doesn't require as much brainpower. lol. The poem is not quite finished but close.

I thought more about my concept that could either be a poem or a story, and it's shaping up to be a story, a pretty fun one. As usual, I have disturbingly large gaps in my idea to the point that I can't completely write the beginning scene with the knowledge I currently have, but by now, I know better than to let that stress me out and stop me from starting.
I actually have a little idea for a nonfiction piece as well, but that's less of a priority for me. In the future, could we have a little more time for Legends Contests? Two weeks is short to write a good story, let alone a good poem, story, and essay—

It really drags things out, but we might be able to relax more. I can certainly add an extension, if y'all prefer. Hold a poll, maybe? -three weeks to write, two to vote -three weeks to write, three to vote That sort of thing. What do y'all think? |

I think a poll sounds like a good idea. See what everyone would prefer. I know I wouldn't object to a little extra time to both brainstorm and comment/vote.  |

Definitely up for an extension on the current contest.
Also, humble advice for anyone who has trouble with the story idea: Don't try to come up with situations that happen in the dark. Many of the ideas I brainstormed on the first day fell into the category of happening in the dark but not really being about the dark— Instead, think of reasons it might be unusual, significant, or troublesome if a certain place is dark. If that helps anyone who can't seem to get something to fit the prompt.

Finally have a story idea. Not sure I'm that happy with it though. Have a poem just about completed. Unfortunately, not sure I'm happy with that either. Not holding out much hope with regard to throwing my hat into either of these rings at the moment.  |

Definitely not happy with any of my story ideas. I know the general feeling I want to achieve but I can't think of a context or characters or plot. You know, the important stuff. Sad.

I know there is a word limit for the Legends story, but is there a minimum word count or a specific number of words that would make the entry ineligible?

Well, a long bath and a few glasses of red ended up flipping the script, and now I have a story idea I'm running wild with and it's the poem I'm not so sure about LOL
Wishing everyone the best and cheering on your muses! And maybe doing a little threatening of them with a bat if they don't cooperate. As in, the furry, shrieky thing, not the wooden thing.
