I am new to writing but am a long term reader of the YA fiction genre. I have been reading a lot of LitRpg books and dungeon core themed books lately and it inspired me to try writing my own series. I am probably the worst person to try writing as I have terrible grammar and spelling but I'm going for it anyway. Mostly I'm here to find advice and people who might want to read over what iv got so far and tell me just how bad it is and how I can improve it. I'm at about 18k words and I'm starting to feel like I need to make sure my base is sound before I build any more on it.

If you stick with it, it's a life-long journey and you'll never be bored. Wherever you go, you'll have something to think about, a problem to solve, a world to build. I think many people here started with RPGs and branched off into their own thing at some point. Many of us also started with fanfic of one kind of another. It can be hard getting a critique for the first time, we're all here to help so it won't be all praise. I recommend reading the old contest pieces in the fiction section because they all have great feedback from different perspectives and they're all at different writing levels. You can also read some posts in the sub-forums of the fiction section to get a feeling for how things are done. Lurking is okay, too. Or dive in! Writing games, writing questions, and the general discussion boards are friendly and open to all. Glad to have you here!

Greetings Kody and welcome. I see a kindred spirit, terrible grammar and spelling. The good news is that you'll get better the more you write.

So how do I join a forum? I was going to post in the fiction area but since I'm not a member I don't have permission to post.

So how do I join a forum? I was going to post in the fiction area but since I'm not a member I don't have permission to post. If you create an account (it's free), then you can post. You might have to meet a post requirement first before posting in the feedback forums, like 3 posts elsewhere first? Try interacting in other areas or commenting on other threads before posting a story. Give some, get some.

You answered your own question. Become a member. I am a member of the site now, my question was how to become a member of a specific forum. I figure a mod has to add me or something.

Also I guess you were right Alatariel, after I posted that last comment I am now able to access the fiction area completely.
