Misconceptions
Purge your fears, you’ve no need for tears.
Wings in the night, devil’s messengers take flight.
Full moon’s herald, your life isn’t imperiled.
Beehive haircut especially attractive,
Virgin’s blood is fun if you can find one.
You can’t run, you can’t hide
Your screams are a lighthouse’s beams,
Your whimpers let us find you indoors.
Velvet brown fur, black leather wings,
We like fruit, nectar, and other things.
They have us in baseball, cricket, and single wicket.
Can you guess our crowning achievement?
There’s no desire to be your roommates.
Not close to rodents, nearer to primates.
We’re only bats.

Room With A View
Harold is a very thrifty man. The cost of an Atlantic cruise leaves him stupefied. But thoughts of exotic ports of call where foreign cuisine is mouthwatering, sights are breathtaking and my toes wriggle with delight in the texture of warm and silken sands, define ecstasy.
A substantial windfall enables me to purchase a luxury liner stateroom. The panorama is spectacular. Goes without saying that Harold disapproves of the extravagance but I persuade him to come along. Unfortunately, his vantage point as a roommate is, to say the least, somewhat limited.
Not much to see from the interior of a steamer trunk.

An Odd Pair
Despite their stark differences, they made swell, if not strange, roommates.
Respecting each other's quirks was key.
Virgil was meticulous about setting the refrigerator to the proper temperature to prevent blood bags spoiling. Accommodating his nocturnal nature, every window was darkened with thick curtains.
On the other hand, Apollo would, at times, go gallivanting all night. With a full moon, this happened at least once each month, but as often as his wild spirit would allow. Sometimes, he'd return tracking mud along the wood floors or with blood clinging to his maw.
You simply learned to live with peculiar habits.
